Happy Saturday, it’s Week 2 of the college football season!
There are a lot of great matchups today, including No. 11 Texas facing future conference rival No. 3 Alabama, No. 22 Colorado taking on Matt Rhule and Nebraska, and No. 20 Ole Miss taking on No. 24 Tulane. Let’s make some picks.
No. 12 Utah (1-0) (-7.5) at Baylor (0-1)
Utah looked strong despite Cam Rising being out in a convincing win over Florida last week, and he’s likely out again today in Waco. It’s the first meeting between two future conference foes, and even though I think Baylor will come out angry after a brutal loss to Texas State last week, I think they drop this game as well.
Tune in to Utah at Baylor at 12 p.m. ET on ESPN.
Iowa (1-0) (-4) at Iowa State (1-0)
Iowa had a strong start, but I wasn’t a fan of their offense as they beat Utah State by only ten last week. However, they have a 21-8 record against Iowa State all time, and I expect that record to improve with good defense today.
Tune in to Iowa at Iowa State at 3:30 p.m. ET on FOX.
No. 13 Oregon (1-0) (-6) at Texas Tech (0-1)
Texas Tech was upset last week as they fell in double overtime to Wyoming in Laramie. I don’t love the Red Raiders today, but with Tyler Shough facing his former team and the team being angry in their home opener, I think Texas Tech will upset Oregon in a close one. Bo Nix and the Ducks’ offense could be the story tonight but expect the unexpected in Lubbock tonight.
Tune in to Oregon at Texas Tech at 7 p.m. ET on FOX.
No. 10 Notre Dame (2-0) (-7) at NC State (1-0)
NC State didn’t look like the team we’ve seen the past few seasons, as they only beat UConn by 10 in East Hartford. Sam Hartman and Notre Dame’s defense has been on point this season, and I expect the Fighting Irish to pick up a road win today.
Tune in to Notre Dame at NC State at 12 p.m. ET on ABC.
No. 23 Texas A&M (1-0) (-3) at Miami (FL) (1-0)
Two historic programs face off at Hard Rock Stadium this afternoon as Texas A&M looks for back-to-back wins over the Hurricanes. The Aggies looked impressive, but it was against a weak team. I’m more confident in Texas A&M than I am in Miami. I’ll take Jimbo Fisher’s team to get a road victory.
Tune in to Texas A&M at Miami (FL) at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
Nebraska (0-1) at No. 22 Colorado (1-0) (-2.5)
Colorado is back in the top 25 thanks to a big road win over TCU led by Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter. The Buffaloes are must-see TV with how many key players they have on their roster. Nebraska has dominated the rivalry, with an overall record of 49-20-2, including a 23-11-2 record in Boulder. Nebraska didn’t look too great in last week’s loss to Minnesota. I expect Colorado to win by two possessions today.
Tune in to Nebraska at Colorado at 12 p.m. ET on FOX.
No. 20 Ole Miss (1-0) (-8) at No. 24 Tulane (1-0)
Ole Miss looked strong last week against Mercer, with Jaxson Dart and Quinshon Judkins leading the way. The Rebels head into New Orleans to face Tulane for the first time in two years. Ole Miss has won 12 in a row against the Green Wave, but I wouldn’t doubt the defending Cotton Bowl champions. I’ll take Ole Miss, but Tulane covers the spread.
Tune in to Ole Miss at Tulane at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
No. 11 Texas (1-0) at No. 3 Alabama (1-0) (-7)
Alabama showed that Jalen Milroe is their guy at quarterback last week. I like Quinn Ewers and the challenge Texas brings into Bryant-Denny Stadium tonight, but Alabama has to show vulnerability for the Longhorns to stand a chance. I like the Crimson Tide tonight.
Tune in to Texas at Alabama at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.
