Sunday Selections: 10/10/2021

Hi everyone, and welcome back to Sunday Selections. As I said in my last post, I hadn’t had time recently to get posts out, so I tweeted my picks. I slept in today, so I tweeted out my London Pick, which you can see below:

I picked the Falcons because of their offense, but while I’m watching that game, it looks like both offenses are hard to watch. Anyways, I don’t want to keep you waiting. Here are my picks for Week 5 of NFL football:

New England Patriots (1-3) (-8) at Houston Texans (1-3)

I’m taking the Patriots because the Texans are not good at all. However, the Patriots look depleted, which makes me worried for Mac Jones and the secondary. I’m hoping in the next few weeks that everyone can be healthy. If there was a game to miss, it’s this one.

Tune into Patriots at Texans at 1 PM ET on CBS.

Green Bay Packers (3-1) (-3) at Cincinnati Bengals (3-1)

The Bengals are off to a solid start, but they face Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. Jaire Alexander has been ruled out for this game, so I expect Joe Burrow and his receivers to take full advantage of that, especially when Kevin King is their next best cornerback. I’ll take the Packers by a touchdown.

Tune into Packers at Bengals at 1 PM ET on FOX.

Detroit Lions (0-4) at Minnesota Vikings (1-3) (-10)

The Vikings get their easiest matchup of the year: hosting the Lions. The Lions have yet to get a win, but with many of their key players listed as questionable, I don’t like their chances. Vikings RB Dalvin Cook is out, but they will survive without him.

Tune into Lions at Vikings at 1 PM ET on FOX.

Denver Broncos (3-1) (-1.5) at Pittsburgh Steelers (1-3)

Ben Roethlisberger has done absolutely nothing for the Steelers, so this is yet another game where they have to rely on their defense. Najee Harris will be the key role on offense, which has to get going soon. However, Teddy Bridgewater is active, so expect the Broncos to win.

Tune into Broncos at Steelers at 1 PM ET on FOX.

Miami Dolphins (1-3) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1) (-10.5)

The Buccaneers exited Foxborough with a last-second victory over the Patriots, and I think they’ll continue to win for now. The only problem I have with the Buccaneers is their poor usage of Ronald Jones II and, more importantly, their secondary, which looks paper-thin. I think the Bucs win, but it’s a shootout due to their poor pass offense.

Tune into Dolphins at Buccaneers at 1 PM ET on CBS.

New Orleans Saints (2-2) (-2.5) at Washington Football Team (2-2)

I was going to pick the Saints, but Antonio Gibson is active, so their offense will continue to thrive. I hope the defense looks like what we saw last season.

Tune into Saints at Washington Football Team at 1 PM ET on CBS.

Philadelphia Eagles (1-3) at Carolina Panthers (3-1) (-3)

The Eagles are without OT Lane Johnson, but that is it. Jalen Hurts has looked solid so far, throwing for 1167 yards, seven touchdowns, and two interceptions. The Panthers will be without newly-acquired CB Stephon Gilmore and star running back Christian McCaffrey. I’ll take Philly by two touchdowns.

Tune into Eagles at Panthers at 1 PM ET on FOX.

Tennessee Titans (2-2) (-4.5) at Jacksonville Jaguars (0-4)

The Titans are coming off a terrible loss to the Jets last week, so I expect them to come into this game with a chip on their shoulder. The Jaguars are a mess, mainly because of the controversy surrounding new head coach Urban Meyer. I’m not here to talk more about that, however. I’m keeping this family-friendly. Let’s say Urban Meyer might have put his job in jeopardy already. Titans blow them out.

Tune into Titans at Jaguars at 1 PM ET on CBS.

Chicago Bears (2-2) at Las Vegas Raiders (3-1) (-5.5)

I am worried about the Raiders because Jon Gruden is also in controversy about a racist email sent nearly a decade ago. I’m not sure the players will trust Gruden, and that’s why I’ll take the Bears in an upset.

Tune into Bears at Raiders at 4:05 PM ET on CBS.

Cleveland Browns (3-1) at Los Angeles Chargers (3-1) (-2.5)

With top offensive tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. out, the Browns are at a disadvantage. Joey Bosa has created lots of pressure this season, while Justin Herbert looks like an MVP candidate so far. With the Chargers at home, they’ll win.

Tune into Browns at Chargers at 4:05 PM ET on CBS.

New York Giants (1-3) at Dallas Cowboys (3-1) (-7)

Even though Ezekiel Elliott and Amari Cooper are questionable to play, I would be crazy not to pick the Cowboys. There is a lot wrong with the Giants, even though they picked up their first win last week. The Cowboys are undefeated at home so far this season.

Tune into Giants at Cowboys at 4:25 PM ET on FOX.

San Francisco 49ers (2-2) at Arizona Cardinals (4-0) (-5)

The 49ers will start Trey Lance, which is a good thing. However, his top target, George Kittle, has been placed on the Injured Reserve. That is not a good thing. I think the Cardinals will dominate on both sides of the ball and stay undefeated.

Tune into 49ers at Cardinals at 4:25 PM ET on FOX.

Buffalo Bills (3-1) at Kansas City Chiefs (2-2) (-3)

Sunday Night Football at Arrowhead Stadium? The atmosphere will be unmatched for this rematch of the AFC Championship. The Chiefs have struggled, but they look to earn their third win of the season. The Chiefs have too many weapons, which is why I’ll take them over the Chiefs. However, if this game was in Orchard Park, it would be a different story.

Tune into Bills at Chiefs at 8:20 PM ET on NBC.

Indianapolis Colts (1-3) at Baltimore Ravens (3-1) (-7)

The Colts haven’t looked as strong as I thought they would be, and it doesn’t get any easier as they visit the Ravens on Monday Night. Lamar Jackson in primetime has been awesome to watch, so expect the same in this game. However, most of the primetime games this year have been close, so it wouldn’t surprise me if this game ended up the same way.

Tune into Colts at Ravens at 8:15 PM ET on ESPN.
