My College Basketball Top 25 – 1/18/2021

Here’s my top 25 for this week:

  1. Gonzaga (14-0) The schedule for Gonzaga just keeps getting weaker.
  2. Baylor (12-0) Baylor’s conference schedule makes them catch up a bit to Gonzaga. Great win against Texas Tech.
  3. Villanova (8-1) Villanova resumes their schedule with a game against Seton Hall tomorrow.
  4. Iowa (12-1) Iowa’s on a big winning streak right now.
  5. Michigan (11-1) The Wolverines finally suffer their first loss to a good Minnesota team. They also blew out Wisconsin earlier in the week.
  6. Texas (11-2) Texas lost to Texas Tech, who almost beat Baylor, one of the best teams in the country. Yes, Baylor won by 8, but it was much closer than the final score says.
  7. Tennessee (10-1) Picked up a win against Vanderbilt. Nothing too crazy.
  8. Wisconsin (11-3) Got blown out by Michigan but got themselves on the win column over Rutgers.
  9. Houston (11-1) The AAC is WEAK. Houston continues to show why the AAC is the worst major conference.
  10. Texas Tech (11-4) The Red Raiders upset Texas and then come up just short against Baylor.
  11. Alabama (11-3) Surprised they’re this good. John Petty is a stud.
  12. Virginia (9-2) Proved that Clemson was overrated. Tony Bennett coaches a good team.
  13. Kansas (9-2) Cannot wait for Kansas-Baylor. It’s gonna be a good one. I’ll still pick the Bears to win that game though.
  14. Ohio State (11-3) They beat a good Illinois team that might not even be ranked this week.
  15. Creighton (10-3) The Bluejays suffer a bad loss to Butler, but that helps my Huskies’ resume (assuming Creighton wins the rematch)
  16. Minnesota (11-4) Gave Michigan its first loss of the season. Marcus Carr still is one of the best players in the Big Ten.
  17. UCLA (11-2) The Bruins are undefeated in the Pac-12. Mick Cronin is a good head coach that upgraded from a poor conference to a power conference.
  18. Colorado (11-3) They’re ranked high in KenPom and NET Rankings. So tell me why they shouldn’t be ranked again this week?
  19. Virginia Tech (11-2) Dave Borges said it best: possibly the best resume in the ACC.
  20. West Virginia (9-4) They haven’t played a game since January 9th. They won’t play another until the 23rd.
  21. UConn (7-1) Don’t be fooled by a close win against a DePaul team that’s played them before. The team certainly misses Bouknight.
  22. Oklahoma State (9-3) Big upset win over Kansas. Also that walk-on getting a scholarship is one of the most wholesome things to watch.
  23. USC (11-2) Ever since losing to Colorado, they haven’t lost a game since.
  24. Drake (13-0) Unbeaten, but on COVID pause.
  25. Boise State (12-1) Haven’t lost a game since November 27th.
