10 days have come and gone, and we have finally reached the last day of the NBA Summer League season. UConn has been well-represented, and there are potentially two more Huskies in action, as Cam Spencer faces the Clippers in a consolation game and Liam McNeeley is a game-time decision in the Summer League championship game tonight.
Tristen Newton
Newton saved his best for last as the Minnesota Timberwolves took on the Houston Rockets in hopes of zero blemishes on their five-game Summer League schedule. The 2024 NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player finished with 24 points, 10 assists, five rebounds and three steals on 8-12 shooting from the floor and 6-9 from deep. Newton became the go-to guy for Minnesota down the stretch, but unfortunately, he could not get a clean look on the final shot as the Timberwolves fell for the first time this summer, 104-101. In five games played, Newton averaged 9.2 points, 3.8 assists, 2.8 rebounds and two steals per game, shooting 41.9% overall, 47.6% from deep and 90.9% from the free-throw line.
Liam McNeeley
Again, McNeeley was not able to give it a go in their semifinal game against the Oklahoma City Thunder due to a right Achilles tendinopathy. However, without him, the Charlotte Hornets advanced to the Summer League championship game behind a 25-point effort by former UNC Wilmington wing Jaylen Sims, 109-80.

James Bouknight
In his final game of the Summer League, Bouknight could not help his team too much in a meaningless game, losing to the Phoenix Suns 111-87. Starting and playing 22 minutes, the former Hornet scored 10 points on 4-7 shooting, including one made 3-pointer. He was everywhere on the box score with five rebounds, two blocks, an assist and one steal. Bouknight had a promising Summer League, averaging 12.6 points, 3.8 assists, 3.4 rebounds, one steal and one block per game in 19.1 minutes per game while shooting 64.5% from the field, 52.6% from downtown and 81.3% from the charity stripe.
