Once again, it was a quiet day in the NBA Summer League for UConn men’s basketball alums. All three Huskies: Samson Johnson, Liam McNeeley and Adama Sanogo did not play during Day 5 of the Summer League. On the bright side, three Huskies are expected to take the floor in Las Vegas today.
Samson Johnson
Johnson did not play due to the coach’s decision again and has yet to step on the floor as a member of the Indiana Pacers. The Pacers did not come out on top on Monday afternoon, falling to the Chicago Bulls 114-105.
Liam McNeeley
McNeeley sat out for the first time during the NBA Summer League, being ruled out due to a right Achilles tendinopathy. The reigning Big East Freshman of the Year has averaged 18 points, 8.5 rebounds and four rebounds per game with shooting percentages of 40.7% overall, 42.9% from 3-point range and 88.9% from the free-throw line. With Cooper Flagg shut down for the rest of the NBA Summer League, the Charlotte Hornets took advantage and blew out the Dallas Mavericks, 87-69.
Adama Sanogo
Sanogo did play, but did not even last a minute in the game and did not have any stat to record. The 2023 NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player has averaged 3.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game on 80% shooting from the field and 100% from the free-throw line. The Utah Jazz lost a heartbreaker to the San Antonio Spurs in overtime, 93-91.
