The busiest Summer League day for UConn men’s basketball fans came on the third day of the nearly two-week-long event as six Huskies had the chance to take the court at the two arenas on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Andre Jackson Jr.

Jackson started again for the Milwaukee Bucks, but did not contribute as much as he did in their Summer League opener. Unfortunately for the former national champion, Jackson went 0-3 from the field and scored just two points with one rebound and three assists. The Bucks fell to the Cleveland Cavaliers 93-83.

Samson Johnson

There is not much to say about Johnson’s time with the Indiana Pacers. That is because he has not seen the floor for even a second in the team’s first two games. The Oklahoma City Thunder routed the Pacers, 104-85.

Liam McNeeley

McNeeley could not replicate the impressive performance he had in his Summer League debut, but was still critical in helping the Charlotte Hornets hold onto their lead to defeat the Philadelphia 76ers, 96-94. The reigning Big East Freshman of the Year scored 14 points on 4-11 shooting, with three of his four made field goals from 3-point range. In addition to that, McNeeley grabbed five rebounds and handed out two assists as he was one of five Hornets in double figures, including three starters.

Tristen Newton

Newton was the most impactful player off the bench for the Minnesota Timberwolves, scoring 12 points on 4-11 shooting. Like McNeeley, three of Newton’s four field goals came from behind the arc. The 2024 NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player had three assists and one rebound in 19 minutes as Minnesota defeated the Denver Nuggets 94-83.

Cam Spencer

Spencer has continued to prove why he is an NBA player that can play for the years to come. The 2024 NCAA champion finished with 17 points, four assists, four rebounds and one steal on 6-15 shooting from the floor. Two of his six made field goals were from 3-point range and he added three more points on a perfect 3-3 from the free throw line. He was one of four starters that scored in double figures as the Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 96-86.

James Bouknight

On the opposing team from Spencer was Bouknight, who had perhaps the best game out of the six Huskies on Saturday. Despite the loss, Bouknight started and scored 15 points and recorded four assists on an efficient 4-6 shooting in 23 minutes. Two of those made baskets came from downtown, and he was automatic from the free-throw line, making all five of his attempts. Bouknight was also a factor on the defensive end, picking his opponents’ pockets twice and blocking one shot.
