UConn in the NBA: Summer League Day 2 Recap & Day 3 Preview

Four more Huskies made their 2025 NBA Summer League – Las Vegas debut on Friday and showed why they belong in the NBA. Among those are Cam Spencer with the Memphis Grizzlies, Adama Sanogo with the Utah Jazz, Liam McNeeley with the Charlotte Hornets and James Bouknight with the Portland Trail Blazers.

Cam Spencer

Spencer had momentum heading into the Las Vegas Summer League and built on top of it in the Grizzlies’ 92-78 loss to the Boston Celtics. Despite the loss, Spencer had 15 points, three rebounds and two assists on 4-9 shooting from the field, 2-4 from the 3-point line and a perfect 5-5 from the free-throw line.

Adama Sanogo

Sanogo came off the bench and continued to produce for his new team. While the Jazz fell 111-105 to the Hornets, the 2023 NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player scored 8 points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out three assists and blocked one shot in 16 minutes off the bench, making three of his four shot attempts and a perfect 2-2 from the charity stripe.

Liam McNeeley

On the opposing side was McNeeley, Connecticut’s only NBA draftee this year. The reigning Big East Freshman of the Year showed why he could be a steal, leading the Hornets with 22 points, 12 rebounds and six assists on 7-16 shooting from the field, 3-6 from downtown and 5-5 on free throws. McNeeley did all of this coming off the bench, playing 28 minutes.

James Bouknight

The only Husky in the NBA Summer League to not win a national title may have found new life in Portland. The former Hornet led the Trail Blazers with a +32 plus/minus and posted a stat line consisting of 11 points, nine rebounds, four assists, two blocks and one steal in 21 minutes as a member of Portland’s starting backcourt. The former All-Big East First Team guard shot 3-5 from the field, made all four free throw attempts and was also 1-2 from deep. The Blazers stomped the Golden State Warriors 106-73.
