It’s officially the beginning of Fall, which means college football starts to get more exciting. The day begins with No. 4 Florida State taking on Clemson, while the mid-afternoon slate is loaded with three top-25 matchups. There are three in the primetime slot, headlined by No. 6 Ohio State at No. 9 Notre Dame.
No. 4 Florida State (3-0) (-2) at Clemson (2-1)
Another year, another underwhelming start for Clemson, falling to Duke to begin the season. Clemson has won seven in a row against Florida State, with a 9-8 record at home in the series history. The Tigers’ winning streak comes to an end today. Jordan Travis will be too much, but Clemson does keep it close.
Tune in to Florida State at Clemson at 12 p.m. ET on ABC.
No. 24 Iowa (3-0) at No. 7 Penn State (3-0) (-14)
Penn State holds its annual white-out game against Iowa tonight. The Nittany Lions looked vulnerable in the first half against Illinois last week but took over in the second half. Iowa doesn’t have the offense to compete with Drew Allar and the running backs. I’ll take Penn State tonight.
Tune in to Iowa at Penn State at 7:30 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+.
No. 14 Oregon State (3-0) (-3) at No. 21 Washington State (3-0)
Washington State has won four straight when hosting the Beavers, but I think that streak comes to an end today as I’m more confident in DJ Uiagalelei’s ability to lead Oregon State to victory.
Tune in to Oregon State at Washington State at 7 p.m. ET on FOX.
No. 22 UCLA (3-0) at No. 11 Utah (3-0) (-3)
Utah has won five of the last six games against UCLA and has not lost at home against the Bruins since 2015. Cam Rising is still recovering, which gives Chip Kelly’s team an advantage. However, I like the Utes at home today.
Tune in to UCLA at Utah at 3:30 p.m. ET on FOX.
No. 15 Ole Miss (3-0) at No. 13 Alabama (2-1) (-7)
It’s a big matchup in Tuscaloosa today as Alabama looks to keep its College Football Playoff hopes alive against Ole Miss. There’s a bunch of good news coming into this game for the Crimson Tide. Nick Saban confirmed that Jalen Milroe will start at quarterback today against the Rebels. Alabama is 28-2 (after vacations and forfeits) against Ole Miss and is currently sitting on a seven-game win streak against them. The atmosphere at Bryant-Denny Stadium will be too challenging for Jaxson Dart and the Rebels to take over.
Tune in to Ole Miss at Alabama at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+.
No. 19 Colorado (3-0) at No. 10 Oregon (3-0) (-21)
I think 21 points is too much for the Ducks to be favored by. With Shedeur Sanders leading the Buffaloes, Colorado will stay in this game for the entire duration. However, losing Travis Hunter will be too much for the Buffs to overcome. I’m leaning toward Bo Nix and Oregon.
Tune in to Colorado at Oregon at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
No. 6 Ohio State (3-0) (-3) at No. 9 Notre Dame (4-0)
It will come as a surprise, but I’m going to go with Notre Dame in tonight’s massive matchup. Sam Hartman is the real deal, and it’s about time that the Fighting Irish put that five-game losing streak against Ohio State away. It would be Notre Dame’s first win against the Buckeyes since 1936. I think they’re more experienced, while Kyle McCord has more pressure in his first start on the big stage.
Tune in to Ohio State at Notre Dame at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
