I know I have been awful at working on this blog lately and I apologize. I want to make more time for this blog, so I will try to push myself as much as I can so I can balance everything out. Anyways, this Sunday includes a London game that I will not be picking (because it’s already the second half). Here are my picks for Week 8:
New England Patriots (3-4) (-3) at New York Jets (5-2)
Who would’ve thought the Jets would have a better record than the Patriots through seven weeks of the NFL season? I for sure would not have. If there’s no quarterback controversy this time, and Mac Jones shuts up everyone who doubts him, I can see a win at MetLife for New England.
Tune into Patriots at Jets at 1 PM ET on CBS.
Carolina Panthers (2-5) at Atlanta Falcons (3-4) (-4)
It’s official: the Panthers are tanking. The Panthers traded superstar running back Christian McCaffrey to the 49ers in exchange for some draft picks. The offense will be worse than awful without McCaffrey, so expect an easy win for Atlanta today.
Tune into Panthers at Falcons at 1 PM ET on FOX.
Chicago Bears (3-4) at Dallas Cowboys (5-2) (-10)
The Bears are coming off a win in Foxborough on Monday night, something I did not expect to happen this season, especially when I have called Chicago the worst team in the NFL before. They’re not the worst, but they will look like it in Arlington today.
Tune into Bears at Cowboys at 1 PM ET on FOX.
Miami Dolphins (4-3) (-3.5) at Detroit Lions (1-5)
Despite their record, the Lions are more impressive and sneaky than you would expect a 1-5 team to be. They have been banged up, but have star receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown back in the lineup. However, their defense is the worst in the league, making me confident in picking the Dolphins today.
Tune into Dolphins at Lions at 1 PM ET on CBS.
Arizona Cardinals (3-4) at Minnesota Vikings (5-1) (-4)
If you told me that the Vikings would start the season with a 5-1 record, I would’ve laughed. However, the Vikings are 5-1, and I think they will continue to trend upwards. I think Minnesota gets the job done at home after their bye week.
Tune into Cardinals at Vikings at 1 PM ET on FOX.
Las Vegas Raiders (2-4) (-1) at New Orleans Saints (2-5)
With Marshon Lattimore, Jarvis Landry, and Michael Thomas all ruled out, I think it’s safe to say the Saints are not winning this game. Davante Adams will play today and should have a field day with Lattimore unable to play. Raiders win big in the Big Easy.
Tune into Raiders at Saints at 1 PM ET on CBS.
Pittsburgh Steelers (2-5) at Philadelphia Eagles (6-0) (-11)
The best team in the NFL faces one of the worst in the league with CBS’s top announcing crew on the call. I know it’s a rivalry game, but the Eagles should stomp Pittsburgh, especially when the game takes place at Lincoln Financial Field.
Tune into Steelers at Eagles at 1 PM ET on CBS.
Tennessee Titans (4-2) (-1) at Houston Texans (1-4-1)
Rookie quarterback Malik Willis out of Liberty will start today with Ryan Tannehill out for this week. I love the potential of Willis, who has an easy matchup today against the Texans. I’ll take Tennessee to add to their first-place lead in the AFC South.
Tune into Titans at Texans at 4:05 PM ET on CBS.
Washington Commanders (3-4) at Indianapolis Colts (3-3-1) (-3)
Both teams stink, but with rookie quarterback Sam Ehlinger, out of Texas, starting today for the first time, I don’t like the Colts in the matchup. There will be growing pains, but can Ehlinger be better than Matt Ryan, who was painful to watch this season? Not in his NFL debut is my call. Washington gets back to .500 with a win today.
Tune into Commanders at Colts at 4:25 PM ET on FOX.
San Francisco 49ers (3-4) at Los Angeles Rams (3-3)
This game has overtime written all over it, at least for me. I love this matchup, and it’s a great test for San Francisco to see how much Christian McCaffrey impacts their team against a talented Rams defense. The Rams are at home and I think they can win, but I think it will be whoever gets the ball last that wins.
Tune into 49ers at Rams at 4:25 PM ET on FOX.
New York Giants (6-1) at Seattle Seahawks (4-3) (-3)
If you told me that this matchup would be the only one with both teams having a winning record, I wouldn’t believe you. The fact that the Giants are 6-1 is already impressive, but the amount of times Brian Daboll’s team had to come clutch down the wire to win is insane. However, DK Metcalf is back, and Lumen Field will impact the Giants. Give me Seattle on a game-winning touchdown
Tune into Giants at Seahawks at 4:25 PM ET on FOX.
Green Bay Packers (3-4) at Buffalo Bills (5-1) (-10.5)
The Bills are one of the best teams in the NFL, and hosting the mediocre Packers on Sunday night is brutal for Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers has taken a step back this season, especially with Davante Adams not on the team this year. I’ll take Josh Allen and the Bills, who have made fewer mistakes this year than the Packers.
Tune into Packers at Bills at 8:20 PM ET on NBC.
Cincinnati Bengals (4-3) (-3) at Cleveland Browns (2-5)
This rivalry game gets more interesting considering the fact that superstar wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase is out for the time being. However, the Bengals, even without Chase, are a better team than the Browns. Expect a closer game, but Cincinnati comes out victorious on Monday night.
Tune into Bengals at Browns on Monday at 8:15 PM ET on ESPN.
