Saturday Selections: 11/27/2021

Welcome to Rivalry Week, where the improbable happens. This one will be strictly devoted to college football. There aren’t any major games today in college basketball, so I will review the week’s games tomorrow. I’m going to be at the Wake Forest-Boston College game, so I won’t be doing much today besides that. All your questions will be answered today as we wrap up an outstanding college football season. Anyways, here are my Saturday Selections:

#18 Wake Forest (9-2) (-5) at Boston College (6-5)

Boston College has not beaten a ranked opponent in over 2000 days. Just think about that for a second. Over 2000 days. Insane. You know what else is insane? Wake Forest’s offense, led by Sam Hartman. I’m extremely worried about their defense, which has been one of the worst in the country. Wake Forest shows that last week was a fluke and handles the roaring Boston College Eagles.

Tune into Wake Forest at Boston College at 12 PM ET on ESPN2.

#2 Ohio State (10-1) (-7) at #5 Michigan (10-1)

This is definitely the biggest game of the day, but The Game has been lopsided as of recently. The last time Michigan won, my grandfather was starting his final year at UConn! It’s been a decade since then, which means it’s time for an upset Michigan win, right? Wrong. Ohio State has the best offense in the country, so I think C.J. Stroud makes another impression on the Heisman Trophy voters. However, please be a good game.

Tune into Ohio State at Michigan at 12 PM ET on FOX.

Texas Tech (6-5) at #8 Baylor (9-2) (-14)

Baylor still has a chance to make the Big 12 Championship despite two losses. All they would need is a win against Texas Tech and Oklahoma State beating Oklahoma. That scenario is very possible. Baylor should get the win over the Red Raiders, especially when the Bears are 7-3 in their last ten meetings, but it will be up to Bedlam to determine if Baylor heads to Arlington.

Tune into Texas Tech at Baylor at 12 PM ET on FS1.

Florida State (5-6) at Florida (5-6)

Florida State head coach Mike Norvell is 16-4 in the month of November as head coach, so expect that record to improve as the Seminoles go to Gainesville to face in-state rival Florida. Florida recently fired Dan Mullen, effective immediately. I don’t think Florida has what it takes to beat Florida State, despite being home.

Tune into Florida State at Florida at 12 PM ET on ESPN.

Maryland (5-6) (-1.5) at Rutgers (5-6)

Even though Maryland has only one win on the road this season, I think the Terps will become bowl eligible for the first time since 2016. Maryland has won four of the last six meetings between the two Big Ten members. Taulia Tagovailoa and the Terrapins get it done on the road.

Tune into Maryland at Rutgers at 12 PM ET on Big Ten Network.

#3 Alabama (10-1) (-20.5) at Auburn (6-5)

It’s not Auburn’s year. They’ve lost three straight games, so no momentum going their way into this game. Auburn may lead the series in Auburn 10-5, but Alabama will dominate this year. Alabama knows they need this Iron Bowl win going into the SEC Championship.

Tune into Alabama at Auburn at 3:30 PM ET on CBS.

Oregon State (7-4) at #11 Oregon (9-2) (-7)

With a win, Oregon is in the Pac-12 Championship against Utah. But, they have Oregon State who is also looking to battle for the same spot. The Ducks have not lost to the Beavers in Eugene since 2007, so expect the same outcome this year as it was since 2007.

Tune into Oregon State at Oregon at 3:30 PM ET on ESPN.

Penn State (7-4) at #12 Michigan State (9-2) (-4)

While Michigan State has been eliminated from College Football Playoff and Big Ten Championship contention, it would be nice for Mel Tucker’s team to end on a positive note. The series is tied 17-17-1, with the Spartans having a 10-6 lead in games played in East Lansing. Michigan State has yet to lose a home game this season. I feel comfortable picking the Spartans to win this one.

Tune into Penn State at Michigan State at 3:30 PM ET on ABC.

Western Kentucky (7-4) at Marshall (7-4) (-1)

Marshall is on a four-game winning streak against the Hilltoppers, but this is the biggest game in recent years. The winner of this matchup will head to the Conference USA Championship Game against UTSA, so that’s why I’m picking this game and picking Marshall to win it.

Tune into Western Kentucky at Marshall at 3:30 PM ET on CBS Sports Network.

Virginia Tech (5-6) at Virginia (6-5) (-7)

Virginia Tech has dominated recently in the series, and I need an upset pick, so why not the Hokies? Virginia has Brennan Armstrong, one of the ACC’s top quarterbacks, but I’ll take the Hokies.

Tune into Virginia Tech at Virginia at 3:45 PM ET on ACC Network.

#14 Wisconsin (8-3) (-7) at Minnesota (7-4)

Wisconsin can clinch the Big Ten West with a win over their rival Minnesota today, so there’s no doubt they will give it their all today. The question for Minnesota is how will Tanner Morgan do in the Golden Gophers’ final game of the regular season? Minnesota has home field advantage, but I’m taking the Badgers.

Tune into Wisconsin at Minnesota at 4 PM ET on FOX.

#15 Texas A&M (8-3) (-6.5) at LSU (5-6)

LSU is 7-2 all-time against the Aggies, but have lost two of the last three since Jimbo Fisher became head coach at Texas A&M. LSU wants this win more than the Aggies, especially when this is their only shot at being bowl eligible. I’ll take the Tigers in Death Valley.

Tune into Texas A&M at LSU at 7 PM ET on ESPN.

#10 Oklahoma (10-1) at #7 Oklahoma State (10-1) (-4.5)

Oklahoma has won the last six meeting against the Cowboys, and this game is the biggest one in a while. If Oklahoma wins, they will face Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Championship. If the Cowboys win, they can win push the Sooners out of that game if Baylor wins today. With Caleb Williams and Lincoln Riley, Oklahoma upsets in Stillwater for Bedlam.

Tune into Oklahoma at Oklahoma State at 7:30 PM ET on ABC.

#23 Clemson (8-3) (-11.5) at South Carolina (6-5)

South Carolina has not been able to beat the Tigers since their 2013 win. So, you’d have to think the Palmetto Bowl isn’t too exiciting. Clemson still has a chance to be in the ACC Championship, so that’s why this game is important. I think the drought stays alive for South Carolina and Clemson wins.

Tune into Clemson at South Carolina at 7:30 PM ET on SEC Network.
