Tokyo Olympics Preview: Day 3

Good morning everyone. It’s midnight, and a lot has changed since my last post. The United States had a terrific start to swimming, winning six medals, including one gold.

Currently, the Olympic Medal leaderboard looks like this:

  1. United States (1 gold, 2 silver, 4 bronze, 7 total)
  2. China (3 gold, 2 bronze, 5 total)
  3. Japan (3 gold, 1 silver, 4 total)
  4. Australia (1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze, 3 total) (TIED FOR 4TH)
  5. ROC (1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze, 1 total) (TIED FOR 4TH)

What to watch

Medals will be given out in men’s 66kg judo and women’s 52kg judo at 4 AM. To watch it live, click here. It will also re-air at 3 PM ET on USA Network.

Brazil plays Ivory Coast in men’s soccer at 4:30 AM. Watch it live here.

Katie Ledecky and Team USA look to add more medals for the United States as Ledecky begins another Olympics. Airing live at 6 AM ET, you can watch it here. Ledecky swims in the 400m freestyle qualifying heat at 7:20 AM ET.

Medal events occur in the women’s individual foil and men’s individual epee competitions at 5 AM ET, streaming here. CNBC will show this event as well during their coverage.

The USA Men’s Basketball team begins their visit in Tokyo with a preliminary round matchup against Rudy Gobert and France. The game will tip at 8 AM ET on Peacock and here. NBC will also air the game during their NBC Daytime coverage, which begins at 1:30 PM ET.

USA Softball opens their tournament with a game against Japan at 9 PM ET. It’s a rematch of the 2008 gold medal game. You can watch it live here, but it will also air on NBCSN on Monday at 3 AM ET.

Olympic swimming continues as medals are awarded in the women’s 100m butterfly, men’s 100m breaststroke, women’s 400m freestyle, and the men’s 4x100m relay. This event occurs at 9:30 PM ET, which can be streamed live here. It will also be on NBC as part of NBC’s Primetime coverage of the Olympics.

Simone Biles and the U.S. Women’s Gymnastics team begin their journey in Tokyo at 7 PM ET on NBC.
