Tonight will be the third battle of the rivalry between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier. It’s a battle of two champions, with McGregor being a former UFC Featherweight and Lightweight Champion and Poirier being a former interim UFC Lightweight Champion. The Rivalry’s History
In September 2014, a featherweight match between the two occurred at UFC 178 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. McGregor won in the first round with a technical knockout.
In January 2021, Poirier evened the rivalry in a lightweight bout at UFC 257 at the Etihad Arena on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. He knocked McGregor out in the second round.
