The first round is complete, so why not do the second day of the NFL Draft? It’s gonna be a pretty lengthy one, but it’s well worth a read.
SECOND ROUND
33. Jacksonville Jaguars: Trevon Moehrig, S, TCU
The Jaguars filled a need with drafting Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence first overall. However, they used their 25th pick on a position that was set already. I think, if the Jaguars don’t screw up this pick like they screwed up the 25th, they will focus on either upgrading the secondary (especially safety) or upgrade the defensive line. If the Jaguars take Moehrig, the best safety in the draft, or Christian Barmore, the best defensive tackle in the draft, I think it’ll be alright.
34. New York Jets: Javonte Williams, RB, North Carolina
The Jets could have not had a better first round. They landed Zach Wilson and surprisingly got Alijah Vera-Tucker to fall to them. How about taking Javonte Williams and kicking off Day 2 with a great pick?
35. Atlanta Falcons: Azeez Ojulari, EDGE, Georgia
The Falcons didn’t lose so many games last year because of their offense. It was their pass defense. It’s been horrible for quite a while, so they’re due for an upgrade now. Start off with a pass rusher that should’ve been drafted last night.
36. Miami Dolphins: Teven Jenkins, OT, Oklahoma State
The Dolphins have a lot of options at this spot. They could go grab a running back, linebacker, or a offensive lineman. I like Jenkins at 36, because you can protect Tua even more. Jenkins is one of the best right tackles in this draft, if not the best.
37. Philadelphia Eagles: Asante Samuel Jr., CB, Florida State
Samuel was projected to be a first round pick, and he’s the right guy to line up along side Darius Slay.
38. Cincinnati Bengals: Samuel Cosmi, OT, Texas
I HATED how the Bengals prioritized wide receivers over their offensive line. The Bengals have one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL, so there is no excuse for them to not take an offensive lineman with this pick.
39. Carolina Panthers: Dillon Radunz, OT, North Dakota State
The Panthers ended up filling in their cornerback need first, with South Carolina’s Jaycee Horn. I think you could go a few directions here, such as quarterback or linebacker, but it will start with the offensive line.
40. Denver Broncos: Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, LB, Notre Dame
JOK was the most surprising player to fall out of the first round. He is the second best linebacker in this draft, with the chance to be one of the best defensive players out of the class. The Broncos would be hitting a home run with this pick, possibly the biggest steal of this year’s draft.
41. Detroit Lions: Elijah Moore, WR, Ole Miss
The Lions added Penei Sewell, the top offensive lineman in the draft. Although that wasn’t their biggest need, it’s still important to have a good offensive line. This addresses the biggest need, which is wide receiver. The Lions lost Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones Jr. this offseason, so this is an important target in the second round.
42. New York Giants: Jalen Mayfield, OT, Michigan
Mayfield upgrades the offensive line for the Giants, who took Florida wide receiver Kadarius Toney in the first round. He played tackle for Michigan, but he can be moved to a much needed guard position in East Rutherford.
43. San Francisco 49ers: Elijah Molden, CB, Washington
The Niners are looking pretty solid, especially with the new addition of Trey Lance. However, they could use depth at positions such as cornerback.
44. Dallas Cowboys: Kelvin Joseph, CB, Kentucky
I was shocked to see the Cowboys take Micah Parsons last night. The cornerback position is still a huge need and they need to answer that tonight. Kelvin Joseph is the best remaining cornerback, so take him and move it along.
45. Jacksonville Jaguars: Christian Barmore, DT, Alabama
The Jaguars are going to land two absolute steals. Barmore is by far the best defensive tackle with a chance to be one of the top players in the draft.
46. New England Patriots: Rondale Moore, WR, Purdue
This would also be a steal. Rondale Moore is a beast and he is going to make all 31 teams pay for passing up on him. He had an awesome pro day and was one of the top receivers in the Big Ten. The Patriots get the wide receiver they needed.
47. Los Angeles Chargers: Ifeatu Melifonwu, CB, Syracuse
If he’s anything like his brother Obi, Ifeatu could be an athletic beast on the field. The Chargers need a starting cornerback and they land the prospect out of Syracuse.
48. Las Vegas Raiders: Richie Grant, S, UCF
The second-best safety comes off the board at 48. The Raiders needed a safety and Grant could be the top free safety in this draft.
49. Arizona Cardinals: Terrace Marshall Jr., WR, LSU
I think cornerback is a need here too, but the Cardinals will take a player that I thought could have been taken in the first round. He’s got great size, and he’ll be learning from the legendary Larry Fitzgerald. What more could you ask for?
50. Miami Dolphins: Michael Carter, RB, North Carolina
The Dolphins passed on a running back in the first round, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if they went with one here. At this point of the draft, it’s one of their biggest needs.
51. Washington Football Team: Liam Eichenberg, OT, Notre Dame
Eichenberg is one of the last good offensive tackles left, along with Walker Little, so Washington can worry about a quarterback next round. Get one of the offensive tackles while they’re still there.
52. Chicago Bears: Tyson Campbell, CB, Georgia
I almost forgot about this guy. He was playing alongside Eric Stokes in Athens, and has good size for the NFL. If he can improve in bump-and-run, Campbell could be a steal.
53. Tennessee Titans: Dyami Brown, WR, North Carolina
The Titans passed on an opportunity to upgrade their wide receiver group, but they better not tonight. Tennessee needs a receiver that can play alongside A.J. Brown and be another threat to defenders. Brown does exactly that.
54. Indianapolis Colts: Walker Little, OT, Stanford
There’s a good amount of offensive tackles that are worth taking first or second, so it’s no surprise that they’re almost all out. Injuries are a concern, as well as lack of playing. He opted out last season and had 2019’s season cut short with an injury.
55. Pittsburgh Steelers: Creed Humphrey, C, Oklahoma
The Steelers addressed their running back need with the addition of Najee Harris, now it’s time to upgrade the offensive line. I think everyone in Pittsburgh has had enough of the injuries that happen to their star offensive players.
56. Seattle Seahawks: Aaron Robinson, CB, UCF
I would focus on the biggest question mark coming into this draft, which is cornerback. They lost Shaquill Griffin and Quinton Dunbar to free agency, and that group doesn’t get any better unless they act fast.
57. Los Angeles Rams: Landon Dickerson, C, Alabama
The Rams’ biggest need is the interior offensive line, so why not snag this sleeper? He’s a tough, physical center that attacks its opponents. Injuries are a concern, but if he wasn’t hurt, he could be better than Creed Humphrey.
58. Kansas City Chiefs: Carlos Basham Jr., EDGE, Wake Forest
The Chiefs didn’t go back-to-back because they couldn’t pressure Tom Brady. Basham can give quarterbacks pressure, which we saw when he faced ACC foes in Winston-Salem.
59. Cleveland Browns: Joseph Ossai, EDGE, Texas
An edge rusher is the biggest need for the Browns, even before they took Greg Newsome II last night. I’m sure they’re upset they couldn’t snag Basham though.
60. New Orleans Saints: Robert Rochell, CB, Central Arkansas
Yes, this is a bit high for a projected third-round pick. However, besides Marshon Lattimore, the cornerback group is in dire need of talent. Rochell is still a great pick, but I bet the Saints are going to make some calls to trade up.
61. Buffalo Bills: Quinn Meinerz, G, Wisconsin-Whitewater
It’s not a bad idea to upgrade an offensive line. Keep Josh Allen protected if a lineman gets hurt. Cornerbacks are dry, so why not protect your franchise guy?
62. Green Bay Packers: Amon-Ra St. Brown, WR, USC
There’s one St. Brown on the Packers already, so why not get his brother too? They could have a chemistry that could make them hard to guard, especially when you have to worry about Davante Adams too. Aaron Rodgers is upset, get a receiver and keep him happy.
63. Kansas City Chiefs: Tylan Wallace, WR, Oklahoma State
Sammy Watkins is gone, why not replace him with one of the best receivers in the Big 12? Oklahoma State was good this past season, and they have him to partially thank.
64. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Kyle Trask, QB, Florida
Tom Brady isn’t getting any younger, but he has a few years left in the tank. Trask was a Heisman finalist, and deserves more attention than Davis Mills or Kellen Mond. Imagine getting Trask to learn from the greatest player ever. That could be a good thing for the future of the franchise.
THIRD ROUND
65. Jacksonville Jaguars: Pat Freiermuth, TE, Penn State
One of the biggest needs left for the Jaguars is a tight end, so they’ll be happy to take the second best one in this draft. They could also become the Clemson Jaguars and take Amari Rodgers. That’s interesting to think about in the third round.
66. Minnesota Vikings: Ronnie Perkins, EDGE, Oklahoma
Perkins impacts the game like no one else could in the Big 12. He’s a steal at 66, for a position that the Vikings do need to fill. If they want a cornerback, time to make some calls to trade up.
67. Houston Texans: Paulson Adebo, CB, Stanford
The Texans are a mess, and they need to address their cornerback need. Their defense was not pretty to watch last season.
68. Atlanta Falcons: Deonte Brown, G, Alabama
Brown is a tough, physical guard that can help the run game with newly-acquired running back Mike Davis.
69. Cincinnati Bengals: Wyatt Davis, G, Ohio State
Bengals don’t only need an offensive tackle, they need a guard too. Wyatt Davis is one of the top players at that position, so they should double down on offensive lineman to make up for not taking Sewell.
70. Philadelphia Eagles: Rashad Weaver, EDGE, Pittsburgh
Weaver is an underrated edge rusher and was one of the best at his position in the ACC. He is an athletic player with a history of injuries, but they don’t worry me as much as some other players in this class.
71. Denver Broncos: Kellen Mond, QB, Texas A&M
The Broncos acquired Teddy Bridgewater, but that’s not enough to be satisfied. Add in some more competition in Denver with the QB7.
72. Detroit Lions: Nick Bolton, LB, Missouri
I love this pick. He slips down to the third round and gets taken by a team that is in need of an inside linebacker. He’s one of the top inside linebackers in the draft.
73. Carolina Panthers: Davis Mills, QB, Stanford
The Panthers seem to be all-in on Sam Darnold, but they need depth after trading Teddy Bridgewater. This is the last QB that is worth being taken this high, so snag him right before Washington does.
74. Washington Football Team: Jevon Holland, S, Oregon
Washington fans would be annoyed if Mills didn’t slide to them at 74. This offseason is about what the franchise will do about quarterback, but they might load up on defense too. I expect this pick to trade up.
75. Dallas Cowboys: Levi Onwuzurike, DT, Washington
Three straight Pac-12 players, and this might be the best of the three. Onwuzurike is the DT2 in this draft and he’s sliding to the third round. There’s not as much of a desire for defensive tackle, but the Cowboys will gladly take him.
76. New York Giants: Baron Browning, LB, Ohio State
Browning is an explosive linebacker that the Giants need outside. There’s not many bad things you can say about him, as he’s one of the more underrated players in this draft class.
77. Los Angeles Chargers: Hunter Long, TE, Boston College
I’m more of a fan of Brevin Jordan, but I can see why people think Hunter Long is the TE3 in this draft class. The Chargers lost Hunter Henry and need an answer at tight end, so why not take someone with the same first name?
78. Minnesota Vikings: Trey Smith, G, Tennessee
Upgrading that horrendous offensive line is a need, even after taking Christian Darrisaw in the first round. Trey Smith is an efficient offensive guard that can really help this Vikings offensive line.
79. Las Vegas Raiders: Jabril Cox, LB, LSU
The Raiders have back-to-back picks, so why not use one on a linebacker? It’s an important need and they can start focusing more on the defense that was one of the worst against the run.
80. Las Vegas Raiders: Benjamin St-Juste, CB, Minnesota
I think the Raiders could trade one of these picks, but they need to address the cornerback situation. They’re in a bad spot for cornerbacks at #80.
81. Miami Dolphins: Ben Cleveland, G, Georgia
The Dolphins should protect Tua, and getting Cleveland to put at guard is a great pick. The Dolphins have many young and unproven players, which could be a good thing.
82. Washington Football Team: Amari Rodgers, WR, Clemson
I would’ve loved to see the Jaguars snag Rodgers, however Washington is going to load up for whoever they take at quarterback NEXT YEAR. Sorry, but if the draft doesn’t go their way, they have to wait a year.
83. Chicago Bears: Brady Christiansen, OT, BYU
Christiansen is an underrated offensive tackle, and the Bears need to protect Justin Fields.
84. Dallas Cowboys: Andre Cisco, S, Syracuse
The Cowboys need defensive backs, they got Kelvin Joseph in this mock draft, so now it’s time to get a safety to go alongside Trevon Diggs. Cisco is underrated and was one of the best safeties in the ACC.
85. Tennessee Titans: Brevin Jordan, TE, Miami (FL)
I love this pick. Jonnu Smith signed with New England, so you have to replace him and create more threats other than Derrick Henry and A.J. Brown. Jordan has the potential to do that, as the top tight end in the ACC, if it’s not Hunter Long.
86. Minnesota Vikings: Alim McNeill, DT, NC State
They could use the DT3 for upside potential, and McNeill is the best player available. Lots of defensive tackles, why not snag one?
87. Pittsburgh Steelers: Spencer Brown, OT, Northern Iowa
The Steelers finished last in the NFL in rushing, which is embarrassing when James Conner was a decent running back. Get Najee all the help he can get.
88. Los Angeles Rams: Chazz Surratt, LB, North Carolina
The Tar Heels’ defense wasn’t great, but Surratt was a bright spot. He’s a great third down defender and that’s something the Rams can improve in.
89. Cleveland Browns: Daviyon Nixon, DT, Iowa
The Browns passed on Christian Barmore last night, and I think they can improve at the defensive tackle position. Nixon would be a fine addition in Cleveland.
90. Minnesota Vikings: Dylan Moses, LB, Alabama
The Vikings might lose Anthony Barr this spring, so replacing him is a need to fill. Moses had a disappointing season due to an injury. It’s a boom or bust pick for the Vikings, but it fills a need.
91. Cleveland Browns: Tutu Atwell, WR, Louisville
I’m not in love with what he brings to a team, but he’s extremely fast and can contribute in the passing game and as a returner. He did both of those jobs quite well when he was at Louisville.
92. Green Bay Packers: Jay Tufele, DT, USC
Tufele opted out of last season like many of the prospects in this class have done. He’s tough and aggressive, which can help him get by offensive linemen. This isn’t a huge need, but it’s good to have depth.
93. Buffalo Bills: Trey Sermon, RB, Ohio State
Running back is a big need for the Bills, and Sermon got it done for the Buckeyes when he was on the field. Sermon suffered a collarbone injury in January, so that is something to be aware of.
94. Baltimore Ravens: James Hudson, OT, Cincinnati
The Ravens traded Orlando Brown Jr. to the Chiefs, so they need to replace him. Brown is the top offensive tackle available, it wouldn’t surprise me if he went here.
95. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Anthony Schwartz, WR, Auburn
The Bucs would be getting a speedy receiver to add to a loaded group. It’s not a huge need, but the Buccaneers are stacked from top to bottom.
96. New England Patriots: Jackson Carman, OT, Clemson
The depth at offensive tackle is highly questionable, so taking an offensive tackle would solve that problem. Carman can also contribute as a guard if there is more help for him there.
97. Los Angeles Chargers: Milton Williams, DT, Louisiana Tech
Williams would add depth to the defensive line, which is lacking depth. He may not have a quick first-step, but he’s strong, smooth, and has size. His draft stock has been rising more and more. The Chargers could be getting a steal.
98. New Orleans Saints: D’Wayne Eskridge, WR, Western Michigan
Eskridge had a great senior year and he’s quick on his feet. With the loss of Emmanuel Sanders, it wouldn’t hurt to have a better wide receiver core outside of Michael Thomas.
99. Dallas Cowboys: D’Ante Smith, OT, East Carolina
This is a reach, but the depth at offensive tackle is miserable. The starters are coming off of season-ending injuries, so it’s better to be safe than sorry.
100. Tennessee Titans: Talanoa Hufanga, S, USC
The Titans filled in the biggest need in this mock draft, which was wide receiver. Besides Kevin Byard, there’s not a single safety I remember being impactful last season for the Titans.
101. Detroit Lions: Shakur Brown, CB, Michigan State
Brown is developing more and more and had a great final season with the Spartans. He wouldn’t have to move out-of-state, and that fills a slot cornerback need.
102. San Francisco 49ers: Tommy Togiai, DT, Ohio State
With Buckner and Solomon Thomas gone, the 49ers need to upgrade the fragile defensive line. Togiai is quick, explosive, and has a excellent first step. It may be a bit early for him to go to the NFL, as he could’ve improved more in Columbus.
103. Los Angeles Rams: Pete Werner, LB, Ohio State
The Rams need an inside linebacker, and they would be getting a hard-working linebacker in Werner.
104. Baltimore Ravens: Josh Myers, C, Ohio State
Myers is an explosive linebacker that was a huge help to Justin Fields and the Ohio State offense. The Ravens have some pieces to fill in their offensive line, and Myers could fit right in.
105. New Orleans Saints: Aaron Banks, G, Notre Dame
Banks is a large, explosive offensive lineman that could help the depth that is needed at guard.
