#4 Ohio State upset #1 Alabama last time the two teams met, which was in the 2015 Allstate Sugar Bowl. Ohio State then went on to defeat Oregon for the National Championship.
There’s one last game to play in College Football. This is what both teams have played all season for. The National Championship Game. The stage is set in Miami Gardens, Florida, at Hard Rock Stadium. Alabama is a 9 point favorite in this game and we can see why. Three of the top 5 players in Heisman voting are suiting up for the Crimson Tide tonight: quarterback Mac Jones, running back Najee Harris, and of course, the Heisman winner DeVonta Smith. Smith has been here before. He caught the game-winning touchdown against Georgia back in 2017. This year, he’s going to be doing more than just one spectacular play. He’s the WR1 of the team, and he has Heisman finalist Mac Jones throwing him the ball. I already know who will be lining up on the other side of the line of scrimmage to guard him. Shaun Wade. Wade was eager to be going up against the Heisman winner. He wants to show everyone, including draft scouts, what he’s made of. Will that happen? Probably not. Alabama’s offense, including DeVonta Smith, is just too talented. I want to see the Ohio State team that I saw stun Clemson in the Semifinals. Watching that game, seeing Justin Fields play through the pain, made me want to root for them in this game. Everyone Alabama has faced has been a blowout besides the SEC Championship against Florida, who the Crimson Tide beat by 6. I want Ohio State to win, but I have to take Alabama in this game. It’ll be closer than the experts think, but Alabama’s just way too good. I also don’t believe Jaylen Waddle will play, despite the rumors. I’m expecting everyone to be contributing. That means the quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, defensive backs, linebackers, all of them. They need to do their job. I hope this isn’t a repeat of the Alabama-Notre Dame game, in which Notre Dame couldn’t do anything to stay in that game. Alabama is a 9 point favorite in this matchup.
